The cost of staying informed without power to act
Date: 5 Jan 2026
Well, all is going well. It’s the beginning of the year, so I’m motivated and stuff. Always focusing on the good things. I noticed I’ve been taking more and more interest in politics and news. And it’s not helping. I get annoyed because there’s no development happening. The politics is filled with old people who are still living in the 19th century.
For a long time, I thought it was not my problem. But it’s becoming very clear how every individual is affected with everything that’s happening in India. Every part of the country affects the other. But I’m not able to balance it. On one side, I don’t wanna be a sheep and stay informed about everything. But staying informed means you’re consumed with bad news in general – and that fills rage in me. This makes me angry and I’m not able to do anything productive from staying informed.
We genuinely need more young people in politics. Honestly, even I can get into it. Purpose hain. But fear. Fear is holding me back. Fear of being fucking killed or tortured. My family would be in danger all the time. And looking at it from a wide lens, I ask myself if it’s worth it. Leave your family in vein (if you die) for decades or fight for justice. Aise dekhe toh it doesn’t seem worth it.
Aise mein it seems better to just earn as much as you can and leave India or live a decent life here. You never know what can happen to you, no matter what part of the country you’re living in.
Indore is the cleanest city and people still die because of contaminated drinking water. The East is the silent and peaceful part of the country and is still faced with violence. Every MP, MLA and ministers have a criminal record. Every tier 1 city is at its worst. Bengaluru – traffic. Mumbai – population. Delhi – safety and standard of living. Kolkata – violence. Chennai – corruption. It’s sometimes surprising because I (and most of the public) haven’t witnessed such situations.
I honestly don’t know what to do.
